As defined by Melbourne Water, greywater is "sewage from the kitchen, laundry and bathroom (but not the toilet). It usually contains soap, detergents and fats". We at Waterwise Systems® only promote the safe and informed use of greywater, as we value the health of all living things and our environment. If used incorrectly, greywater can be hazardous.Greywater may contain many micro-organisms or pathogens; including bacteria, viruses, protozoa and fungi. For this reason, we stress that simple precautions be taken when recycling greywater. It is important to note that all greywater for gardens must be via sub-surface irrigation. For more information on the Safety and Usage of greywater, please read our Greywater Factsheet.
